Why we chose native C# + GTK4 over Electron for low-latency SSH
Chromium web-wrappers turned 3 terminal tabs into 750MB RAM and 90–140ms DOM-event keystroke lag. Native C#/WinUI 3 with DirectX on Windows and GTK4/Libadwaita on Linux cut idle to ~42MB and input-to-PTY to sub-16ms via direct buffer capture and GPU-composited scroll.
- → Direct PTY read, no Chromium IPC hop
- → 48MB idle, cold start < 1s
- → Broadcast input to 12 tabs, one keystroke
